Watch repairs

Repairs and servicing

H&H have an independent watchmaker working on the premises.
John Gibney is a highly trained technician who works to the high standards required by international watch houses. John graduated from the Irish/Swiss Institute of Horology in 1975 and is continually updating and perfecting his knowledge and skills, recently completing a full Rolex course.

Minor watch repairs, such as change of battery and reseals, can be completed within a week. Servicing is more complex and we take longer to ensure your timepiece passes quality control. We recommend a complete service once every three to five years.

During a complete service the watch goes through the following processes:-

  • The watch is completely disassembled
  • All components are cleaned
  • Worn parts are replaced where necessary
  • The movement components are assembled and lubricated
  • The battery is replaced (for quartz models)
  • The watch is reassembled
  • The watch functions are tested and regulated
  • Water-resistance is tested (subject to the watch case/manufacturer’s specifications)

In some cases it will be necessary to send your timepiece back to the watch houses. We are official service agents for:

  • Cartier
  • IWC
  • Omega
  • Franck Muller
  • TAG Heuer
  • Baume & Mercier
  • Longines
  • Ebel
  • Raymond Weil
  • Tissot
